Creating New Footprints

A new chapter begins as we turn a leaf and create a new story.

Our hotel and home, “Magellan Inn”  sold and we are on the move!

It’s been hard and sad to leave our home of 21 years. Both my daughters grew up here. We had to grieve a little, then let go, so the new windows of possibilities could open. A little tug and that last tie is broken, we’re off!

I am so excited that this has happened. The dream is finally coming true! It’s been awhile since that first dream where I imagined in my mind a centre where humans and horses of their own free will, could connect & heal.

As much as dreams and visions are inspiring and exciting, reality does kick in and the search for the perfect property began with all its ups and downs. Too small, too expensive, too wet, too dry, too many steep slopes, not enough water, bad road, no electricity, too far, nothing ever came completely together. We were homeless. What I thought would have been so easy to find, was turning out impossible! Maybe, I thought, our expectations were too high? Should we just settle for something and make it work? But then it happened, we found it! In my heart I felt that warm tingle of this is right, this is it!

There was also a significant sign. Several years a go, a very good friend Lisa and I meditated to see where our future homes would be with the horses. During this meditation, I remember seeing many giant trees ( I was wondering where all the green pastures were?) but in between the trees there were slopes of green luscious grass. True, there are lots of giant trees everywhere, it is the jungle after all!  But Lisa also saw yellow butterflies flying everywhere. So we thought if the 2 come together, then it would be a sign.

So, one day, when my daughters and friend Pascale went to look at yet another property, we found lots of giant trees as we walked along little paths, we were surrounded by them! They were everywhere looking down at us, you could feel their power, their energy, I felt protected, safe. Each one of us was feeling excited, this could be it, it felt right. Then later in the afternoon I had a trek to do with guests. We were riding back along the beach, when 1000’s of yellow butterflies flew around and past us, floating all around like flakes of snow fluttering in the wind. These were the signs, that and some hard work, internet searching, sleepless nights that lead us to our new home.

I can’t tell you how happy I felt, we’d found a home for us, the horses and for the kindred spirits that would walk into our lives and join us for awhile.

So we bought it, that and the property next door, altogether 2 1/2 hectares of tropical forest, giant trees, grassy slopes in the middle of the jungle and close to the most turquoise waters and white sand beaches you could imagine.

Our standards were high, our expectations were met. Goes to show if you put the right amount of intention, you’ll find yourself exactly where you need to be.

My challenge each week is to Blog our progress on this journey, so keep an eye out for the next post as we create and build a haven for Kindred Spirits!
