Classical Spanish Riding with Javier Breton Perez, DAY 2
This morning started with the continuation of Brego's metamorphosis, whose story I told in my last post. Today Brego was still very aware but enjoying the attention, he was interacting and responding without fear.
Unfortunately Leo was called away on an emergency for someone's horse and Heike hurt herself with her main gate, so much that she couln'd drive to get here. So we were a smaller class this day.
Today would be Barbara, Maria Teresa, Corinne, Jennifer, Eve and myself.
Corinne started with longeing Magnus and then riding him for her lesson.
Walk, trot and canter. Position, legs and contact , all in lightness.
The intense tropical sun of the day, proved quite strenuous for Corinne, Javier and horses included, it was time to go to the beach! Corinne dove into the deep blue Caribbean waters to cool down and Javier, Terry, Magnus & Shiloh soon followed.
This would be Magnus's first trip to the beach and the sea. Javier mounted Magnus and I rode Shiloh bareback. Shiloh is a seahorse and he acted as a guide and mentor to Magnus. After a few hesitations, Magnus boldly headed out to sea with Javier. First time for Javier too, the Caribbean sea on horseback! After one moment of loosing contact with the sand and feeling dizzy from the movement of the waves, he was off, that is Magnus, waves splashing on his legs.
Then down along the beach...
After lunch we continued the classes. Spectators 2 legged and 4 legged watching and learning.
Eve began her class, and she wanted to learn how to ask Anya for the Piaffe. Anya had been taught this many years ago, with her previous owner and would do it on her own in the paddock, but Eve had never tried to ask her for it, as she didnt know how.
Under Javier's guidance they were soon dancing together :)
Jennifer had her second lesson with Asha and the day ended with a beach ride for them both, with no pulling and fighting this time.
and then it was a dive into the ocean for Javier! Classes over!
We thank you Javier for an unforgettable weekend!
